Pore access explorer

Change a guest’s size to see how cavities and connecting windows determine pore access.

Two cavities, one window

10 Å cavity4 Å window10 Å cavity

Change the guest size

The cavity stays at 10 Å and the connecting window at 4 Å. The probe’s position updates as its diameter changes.

A guest can fit inside a cavity and still be unable to travel through the framework. The window is the bottleneck.

A 6 Å guest fits the cavity but cannot pass the 4 Å window.

dguest≤dwindowd_{\mathrm{guest}} \leq d_{\mathrm{window}}

This condition permits passage in the ideal geometry. Exact equality is treated as a frictionless fit. This rigid cutaway uses illustrative diameters and spherical guests. Real frameworks can flex, and molecular shape and interactions can affect diffusion. How Zeo++ defines pore geometry
